Never Alone

I hope that when you wake to greet each day

you will think of me and realize that

as sure as the Florida sun warms your face,

as you sit outside, drinking your morning coffee,

admiring the roses we planted together,

as sure as all this, and even more,

I am still close to you.

While you listen to the bird’s chirping above,

and the cheerful chatter of chipmunks

as they frolic among the cypress trees,

you will find me within your heart,

your soul, and your beautiful mind,

 filled with all of our cherished memories.

Don’t despair; I’ll always be there.

Why, you still ask, did you have to endure

the pain of sending me on to Eternity

before you were ready to let me go?

That I can’t answer, however, I know

that even though the sadness lingers,

 time has passed and wounds will heal.

It's your turn to be happy once more.

And, by grace, you have found another;

someone to also love in a very special way.

Know that this pleases me beyond measure.

God has granted you an Angel, 

an answer to the prayer you sent up to Him

while still mourning my earthly departure;

scarred deeply from that breathless blow.

Cherish, trust and believe in this one,

for I am assured she will stay true

because she also loves and honors you.

You see, she was in need of an Angel too!

Beyond our inevitable despair and tears,

the rains that, undoubtedly, fall in life,

God soothes our troubled souls with rainbows.

I know you continue with questions and fears;

the struggles you hide from plain view.

But, if ever again, clouds turn gray,

and the sunshine appears to slip away,

as it did on that fateful August day

when I joined Jesus in Heaven,

Always remember–you are never alone.
