It's Another Scorcher

by Reese Turner

Well, here we are again, that time of year we fry
T’wix the 4th and Labor Day when the heat goes high.
Not much going on in life when life hangs by a thread
When mornings’ humidity yields to just hot, I feel dead.

I love golf, but I do not play under this hot condition.
Nor do I garden or cook out - just surviving is my mission.
Short trips to somewhere cool? For me, there’s none close by.
Perhaps the Southern Hemisphere, but, who can afford? Not I!

Oh, please, dear winter, be early – I promise never to whine
At winter’s chill, snow and ice all over this house of mine.
“Oh, shut up, you’ll complain by first freeze,” yells my wife.
“You complain at every season. Just deal with it. Get a life!”
