One of granddaughter, Kenzie's early art pieces

A chapter in the book Children young and old

What I thought

by Debi Pick Marquette

I Laugh a lot, I Live a lot, with family, I love a lot

I smile now, I had forgot, I worry less, I'm not distraught

Before each grand-babe was a tot, I fell for them and I was caught

Of all the things that I have got, I Iove the love that they have brought

Summer fun with them I trot; we give some thought, then do whatnot

Love/respect is always taught, so we are never overwrought

Kindness should just be an ought, for some it is, for others's not

In times of sorrow, I have sought, to not surrender, not be bought

Sin is ugly and is fraught, a blackened dot on evil’s slot

Our bodies all too soon are shot, while on our way to our last plot

In a place that's very hot, in hell I will not burn or rot

I’d rather be a good mascot, ‘cause Heaven is the Perfect Spot
