Freedom isn't free, they paid for it

We Don't Know All But We Owe All

by Earl Corp

I have a feeling a sense of loss,

Every time I see a Battlefield Cross,

The meaning to me  is quite clear,

It’s for a warrior no longer here,

A helmet, boots, and an upside-down rifle,

Mark the soldier’s last measure so frightful,

Signifying a soldier’s honor, service and sacrifice,

Doesn’t come close to being enough to suffice,

In many battles, they would fall,

Their sacrifices were not small,

For our freedoms they would die,

Now in foreign graves they lie,

On Memorial Day we tend to render,

With honor, love, and respect we remember,

With speeches and flowers in gardens of stone,

Those warriors who didn’t make it home,

This May day we remember the fallen,

With ceremonies most solemn,

It’s plain for all Americans to see,

They’re the reason we are all free.
