Proud To Be Plus

by Regina Elliott

I was once in the Navy,
but "outgrew" my uniform,
please pass the gravy,
I'm content, don't conform,
in humor, I say "move aside."
I'm here, large and in charge,
was proud to be a plus size
bride,
I'm easygoing, I don't barge.

No slice of cake is wasted,
neither is Oreos,
At Thanksgiving the turkey
was basted,
when it saw me it took off
screaming "Adeos!"

Hey, do you want the pie?
No sense for it to be lonely,
my curves have me flying
high,
I'm a one and only.

In school I ran track,
other girls passed me
without a care,
I was way back,
crossed the finish line
hauling my derriere.

I walk for exercise,
cholesterol is at a
good number,
some critics need to
realize,
I'm proud of my
padded bumper.

My added calories
keep me round,
I see much suffering-
of women and men if
they gain one pound,
no need for blustering-
put on sneakers, go for
a stroll,
I exaggerate my appetite,
just to be droll!
