If You're Lonely ...

... Who's to Blame?

by Tom Horonzy

Being lonely ain't so bad
unless alone on a tropical isle
where sparrow-sized skeeters
fill the air and Komodo dragons
roam the shores while sharks cruise
the waterfront, all ferociously hungry.
Escape is unimaginable.

It rains every ill-starred night.
Hunger besets you as eating
coconuts and grubs become ho-hum.
Depression arrives; you loudly cry.

Why? There's no one to hear you
and who's to blame for pirating
the S.S. Minnow, without a skipper,
professor, a Mary Ann, or Ginger?
