I am the dude with the fresh fish!

Fishmonger

by Mike Grimes

Have you ever stopped and wondered about all the kinds of fish?
Who knows ALL the seafood? Who can help you make a dish?

The fishmonger can get it fresh from ocean, lake or stream,
Whether it's a whole swordfish or half of a sardine.

You'll see him elbow deep in shrimp, and smilin' all the time,
Telling' whoppin' fishin' tales 'bout ones that broke the line.

"What can I get ya?" He asks with a grin.
You say you'd like tuna sashimi, quite thin.

He kindly obliges, then sets straight to work.
As he cuts, he mentions offhand, with a smirk,

"Our tuna is great, and so is our salmon!
Cook it nice, then in your face you'll be crammin'

Bite after bite of fine, flaky fillet!
It's so good we made it the catch of the day!

Once you've had the salmon, you should try out the tilapia!
Even when you've stuffed your gills, there might just be no stoppin' ya!

If you look right over here, you'll see a massive flounder!
It took two men to reel her in, a nifty fifty pounder!

We've got halibut to stuff your gut, herring if you're daring!
Live lobsters in aquariums, but read the sign! NO STARING!

Mahi-mahi rubbed with coffee is delicious on the grill,
Plus scallops wrapped in bacon with a sprinkling of dill!

I've heard from some folks that our grouper is super,
And brightens up even the worst party pooper!

If you want something different, how 'bout some orange roughy?
Just dip it in batter, then cook until puffy!

For shellfish, I've got the crabs, clams and oysters!
Steam them in-shell to keep all the moisture!

You thank the kind man for his words of advice,
Then go a bit green when you look at the price.

But you pay, 'cause you're hungry! You can't wait much longer!
So why not go visit your local fishmonger?
