MAN and HIS SHADOW

Man’s thoughts are often dark and flat 

Like shadows on the ground

There is no depth in what he says

His mind is shallow bound

He will offer words of wisdom

When silence should prevail

He’ll continue to speak out aloud

In arrogance he’ll fail

There’s no one good” the Bible says

“Save God who made mankind”

Sadly man for selfish gain

Is swayed by his own mind

But there are some - a very few

Who’ve walked the narrow way

The third dimension of mankind

Shows in them day by day

They offer hope to needy souls

They feed the hungry poor

They touch the lonely with their love

And nurse the aching sore

There is no room within their heart

For earthly pride and praise

Nor do they hope to save their lives

By working endless days

Their love and life is Spirit born

They live because they love

They only do what God would do

He tells them from above

Man needs again to understand

That God who moulds the clay

Has given us the chance to walk

And talk with Him each day

And if we choose the Lord of Life

Who shed His blood for all

Then those who hang upon the truth

Will overcome the fall

Then man and shadow too will leap

And dance the whole day through

The third dimension of the man

Will shout again - I’m new!
