Help me see the light

Darkness has overtaken me

by Joanne Gill-Maddick

Darkness Contest Winner

I wish I could see through the darkness and find my way again.

Depression has set in and I wish the pain would end.

Even when I’m in a crowd I sometimes feel all alone.

Anxiety and depression follows me wherever I may roam.

I try so hard to fight it but it just don’t seem to go away.

It follows me at night and every single day.

I can function in my job because distraction is the key.

As long as my mind is occupied. It really does help me.

My niece used to say fake it until you make it that was good advice.

I just go with the flow and pretend to be ok because I really don’t have a choice.

Sometimes I feel like I’m in a dark tunnel struggling to find the light.

I pray God will help me in this ongoing plight.

Poetry and art is my refuge it nurtures my troubled mind.

I love life and I will never give up until peace of mind I find.
