Darkness contest entry

Unseen

by DragonSkulls

This hollow world has not a clue
as to what darkness lies beneath these thoughts.

For wretched is my hatred,
and vile is my intent
while evil toys with each fiber of my beguiled existence.

Such endeavors do veil well in masquerade
as smiles and lies paint such a pretty ruse.

You willingly admire the thickened outer layers,
favoring a sculpture of cracking marble.

Few see the storm that lines the horizon,
with eyes fully closed
or blinded by a sunrise of facade.

How easy this ploy,
concealed by nothing more than simple words,
words most readily believe...
that gracefully dance on the edge of pretend.

Misguided perception,
a loyalty to mine own self,
that merits a collage of blatant falsehood,
bathes my heart in welcomed darkness.

What vices will ever cease?
What reality will ever reason?
What truths will ever bleed upon these pages?

In shadows I walk, but not alone,
where all conceal what sins abide,
and choose to void their own trespass,
when I as well, know they have lied.

Search not too deeply,
harsh is one's conclusion.

Darkness writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem about darkness. All forms of poetry welcomed.

Figured I'd delve into the darker side of poetry today.
Hopefully it'll be viewed on its poetic value rather than
what it's insinuating.

Thanks for reading.
