All You Have is All You Need

by Tom Horonzy

People in America often lose reality
thinking, "I haven't got enough,"
but the Author of all we have,
knows what we need; we possess.

Go anywhere else in the world,
whether in ruins of war-torn nations,
or jungles of distant homelands
and find people smiling, satisfied
for the lifestyles, they're living.

Maize and taro, rice and beans,
a piece of chicken does as much
for them as our well-stocked larders.

The poorest of our poor, when measured,
would be among the richest of the rich
if transported to where poverty reigns
crying, "woe is me," or, "Alas, Poor Yorick."

How do their destitute differ from ours,
with fewer complaints and appreciation,
in recognizing what they need, they have.,
We should, too, in the good U.S
. of A.
