Our Moon

Heaven's Stair

by Rob Maxey

The dark face is turned away

It doesn't see, it doesn’t stay

In our sights it never looms

It lives in shadow’s gloom

Its crescent smile is sometimes seen

As a budding glowing seed

Opens slow until it’s grown

A flower in full bloom

When in full bloom

And clear skies let

Its light glow in the night

Its silver sheen, a living dream

Gives us an eerie light

It travels cross our sky at night

Hides in the Sun’s daytime light

Is always there, not always seen

Gives no real light, reflection seen

Commands the tides and owns the night

And offers us the soothing sight

True as a friend that's always there

First step from Earth to heaven's stair
