 Some dreams hang ‘round when I awake,
with points my psyche tries to make -
some event from yesterday,
responses to what I pray.
A few linger on and stay.
How I wish they’d go away.

The Octelle is a poem consisting of eight lines using personification and symbolism in a telling manner. The syllable count structure for this verse is 8/8/7/7/7/7/8/8, and the rhyme scheme is A1A2bbccA1A2. The first two lines and the last two lines are identical (refrain).
