Gratitude

Forbid That I Forget

by Janet Foor

I carried you close to my heart
and cherished ev'ry day.
You were the apple of my eye,
loved more than words could say.

Those childhood challenges you faced
with courage you avowed.
Your character and qualities
all made your family proud.

Years quickly passed; we parted ways --
You had your reasons why.
But in your wake, a broken heart --
was left with no goodbye.

As tears appear and gently fall --
old mem'ries reappear.
Until the day I breathe my last,
my hopes and prayers are clear.

Behind each tear there is a smile
I wear upon my face.
The reason for the smile you see
is His amazing grace.

The greatest story ever told,
forbid that I forget.
That for our burdens He came down --
He is our safety net.

Today I count my riches vast
and not the treasures lost.
I live each day and ev'ryday
With gratitude, His cost.

My son's birthday is coming up and I have not seen him in almost 28 years. It's been 14 1/2 years since I've heard his voice. But, I know that someday, there will be knock on my door and it will be him. In the mean time, I am grateful for the multitude of blessings from above.

Mark 11: 24 Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Psalms 5:3 In the morning Lord, you hear my voice, in the morning I lay my request before you and wait expectedly.
