Redefining Home for Christmas

by Reese Turner

Dear Family and Friends and All who might read
Of our most adventurous year – oh, it was indeed!
We sold our home of twenty-eight years,
Packed up the motorhome, wiped some tears,
And hit the road, “Travel and fun’s what we need!”

If life is an hour-glass, my sands' nearing bottom,
But poems, stories, general baloney, I still got ‘em!
In fact, via FanStory, my writings will be plus
About our times; wife, me, two dogs on our bus,
Warning: I’ll likely get no better, just ad nauseum.

Will Christmas still find us wherever? Is there a chance
We’ll still do Santa and Ms.Claus? Just take a glance!
To us, Christmas’s meaning, never lost, we’ll celebrate.
Still sharing gifts, laughter and love – we can’t wait.
(Dear kids, New Year, we’re spending your inheritance!)

A Christmas Card Newsletter contest entry

Hope everyone has a happy and fun-filled Christmas Season. For my fellow Christians, let us rejoice in the gift and promises of our Savior's birth and life. For my fellow golden oldies, let's party like it could be our last (who knows?). For my fellow Americans, let's get our act together; the world is depending on us...
