One Night of Unholy Fright

by poetwatch

The author has placed a warning on this post for language.

The scenes of sins are like a stream

of filthy water in a dream.

In filth, I’m drowning and I scream.

As I awake in tears,

within the darkness of the night

I feel so sad. Where is my light?

Did youth do never what is right?

Now, I can’t shake these fears.

The shadows of the past haunt me

with endless scenes for me to see

the chain around my neck shall be,

a smile changed to a sneer.

I’m frightened in this world of darkness,

it’s not the same as loving-kindness.

On my knees, I ask for forgiveness

and see a light appear.

An angel walks upon the ground,

a smile of warmth lights all around.

I rise to love, my neck, unbound

and sense your spirit near.

Yet, darkness sets another snare

and sways my sight from loving care

as earthly angels prance out bare

with those smiles sweet and dear.

“Back!” I yell, “Vixens of the night.

My heart is with the angels’ light.

Away with you, my God is might!”

Their laughter's in my ear.

Now, I’m awake, still on my bed.

The light’s there and the dark I dread.

They want my soul before I’m dead.

All I want is a beer.

This dream stirred my spirit and soul

with sights forgotten. Now I’m told,

“Repent and heaven you’ll behold,

or it's hell. Is that clear?”

I kind of got carried away with this Trichain. :) I hope there are not too many mistakes. I feel like having a little fun after a big scare.

*Stanzaic: Consisting of 3 or more quatrains.
*Metered: Each quatrain consists of 3 lines of iambic tetrameter and one line of iambic trimeter.
