My Dearest Daughter

by Boogienights

Loved One In Heaven Contest Winner

My daughter,

You've been in my heart,
though we have been apart for years.
For I've been watching over you,
it saddens me to see your tears.

Remember when we walked through fields,
to pick our favorite lilac blooms?
In crystal vases, they were placed,
they filled with fragrance, all our rooms.

I miss the times when we had tea,
and crackers spread with thick preserves.
The love that we both felt those days,
was more than any mom deserves.

My daughter, I'm safe with the Lord,
I'm always close, can you feel me?
I look down from my home above,
I'm next to you though you can't see.

I miss you so, you touch my heart,
So proud of how my girl turned out.
My love for you will never end,
of that, you never need to doubt.
