Message from Mother

by John Cranford

"You are my youngest son
Please know I loved you so
I didn't get to tell you
The day I had to go.

The choice was not my own
My time on earth was through
I saw His loving face
He said, "I've come for you."

I said, "P
lease let me stay
I've so much more to give
My children are too young
Oh please, please let me live."

He said, "You've done your best
You gave them all your love
It's time for you to rest
I'll watch them from above."

"You've grown into a man
His word He gave was true
And now you'll understand
The love I have for you."
