Prom 1959

by HarryT

Senior prom at the Conrad Hilton in 1959
I in a black tux, Susie in a soft yellow dress
Just a touch of lipstick, matching ribbon in her hair

We danced and kissed, headed the Grand March
Went to Villa Venice for a late supper
Rode a gondola on the Des Plaine River

Got Susie home a little before three
Next morning picked her up at ten am
For class picnic at Round Lake Beach

It was a time of deeply sworn young love
A love with thought would go on and on
It didn’t last, but still fondly remembered
