Hide me in your shadow

by royowen

Within your light ...

If I would stand within His light,
would I obscure my Lord from sight?
I'd stir the darkness into night.
yet I know God would solve my plight.

If I betrayed your faith and trust,
and for your treasures show my lust.
Then would you think me less than dust.
and fly away on winds that gust.

And though I'd sought to break your heart,
and from your thoughts this traitor's tart
dismissed and routed, torn apart,
considered now a poisoned dart.

Now if to me you turned your back,
and if your plenty turned to lack.
Would you think me a rubbish sack,
and wish me tortured on the rack?

Or would your love, respond with grace,
I'd light the joy upon your face.
And would you stand in favour's place
and grant to me your love's embrace.

For yet I know a man who died,
I did not love Him but He cried,
"Forgive him Father, He'll abide,
and in my shadow he will hide."

Sinners refrain:
I never thought that I could be,
restored, forgiven, running free,
beside that stream, at God's decree,
because my Lord died on that tree.

Psalm 57:1
Have mercy on me{Be gracious to me}, O God, have mercy on me, for in You my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of Your wings until the disaster has passed.
