My Toddler And Animals

It was a hot summer night, middle of June.

My toddler was watching a silly cartoon.

He wore a large necktie, his pants were maroon.

He copied the dog howling at the full moon.

All of a sudden there appeared a baboon.

It startled my son, but he fed him a prune.

He wore polka-dot shorts and danced to a tune.

My son saw him ride in a hot air balloon.

The next day, the middle of the afternoon

My toddler saw a chipmunk and a raccoon.

He fed them carrots, potatoes with a spoon.

Then he saw them carried off by a typhoon.

He told me he dreamed he was Daniel Boone,

And he was playing billiards in a saloon.

In his dream he killed a fish with a harpoon

Who was living in a blue shallow lagoon.
