Behind the hedge

by royowen

It's not what lurks behind the hedge,
nor on the mountain peak or ledge.
And yet God hides his gifted treasure,
it has no price yet brings much pleasure.

He hides it not that you can't find,
nor steals your sight or renders blind.
The only price that you should pay,
a need to know where answers lay.

I once desired but could not see,
what lurked behind salvation's tree.
But like a rose when petals spread,
I knew why Christ had died and bled.

The flood of grace then captured me,
no longer blind, now I could see.
I can rejoice, I hear God's voice,
for I was free, I've made my choice.

Hebrews 9:14
how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

1John 1:7
But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
