A fun rondeau about Halloween

My Favorite Day

Oh! Halloween! It's my favorite day.
As the moon rises, the spirits hold sway.
Creepy creatures rule on this night.
They put everyone into a fright
With their gruesome features on display.

Beware! Beware without delay!
Say a prayer, chant a spell, hide away,
Or fight a darn good fight.
Oh! Halloween!

Don't become the creatures' prey.
Masks, robes, facepaint, and hair spray
Trick the creatures' eyesights,
And there'll be no need to be afraid.
Oh! Halloween!

A rondeau poem contest entry


Halloween is my favorite non-religious celebration because people wear costumes and throw parties. It brings out the creativity in some people, and it's on display. I also like it because All Saints' Day is November 2nd and All Souls' Day is November 3rd.
