Looking glass

by royowen

One day I looked within fate's glass,
and saw my life in days long past.
How futile are the hours we've spent,
life wasted on time's costly rent.

We can't regain, nor can relent,
life wasted on time's costly rent.
But we can change those useless hours,
on themes we've learnt on crushing flowers.

Although regrets we also waste,
we sour our mouths with time's tart taste.
Life wasted on time's costly rent,
though souls are sad, God knows what's meant.

God says that we will make account,
of words we speak or insults mount.
But I hope God will just relent,
life wasted on time's costly rent.

Quantup
This is like a reverse quatern, where we take the fourth line progresses
down to repeat in the fourth stanza

Matthew 12:36
But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement. NKJV
