A little elderly lady was not nice to me.

Sorry I Asked

One day, I was working at the local laundromat, a clean place to do laundry and work. As part of my job, the floors, washers, and dryers had to be kept

clean. In addition, customers' clothes had to be weighed before washing them.  Once they were washed and dried, I folded them or hung them on hangers.

The job required standing on your feet all day. On that particular day, I happened to be cleaning one of the many washing machines near the

front entrance. I looked up to see an elderly woman struggling to hold the front door open and holding a load of blankets in her arms.  At that moment,

I dropped the rag used for cleaning and dashed to the entrance to assist her.  In a calm voice, I asked her,

"Ma'am, would you like some assistance with your laundry?"

The grey-haired elderly woman, stood less than five feet tall, looked at me and said,

"No, you bitch. I do not need your help. Get away from me."

She was a bitter woman. I couldn't believe it; I was completely flabbergasted. The lady was awful to me.

My face turned every shade of red.  She humiliated me.

After the event, a few weeks passed. She was eating lunch at a local eatery one day: she shared her table with an elderly gentleman. It was likely her

husband. In any case, neither she nor I communicated during that period.
