An apology for mistakes I made

I'm Sorry

by Monica Chaddick

I'm sorry for the things I did
And for the things I didn't do

I loved you through it all
That truth I hope you know

I made mistakes along the way
But you were never one

I was blessed each day that you drew breath
And still I'm blessed today

I could not have asked for better
You were so great you blew my mind

The pride I felt to be your mom
I can't even begin to explain

You were the best thing I had done back then
And that remains so to this day

Writing Prompt
Please write a rhyming or free form poem on any subject. it needs to be three to five stanzas. If a rhyming poem, please rhyme at least every other line.

All I ever wanted was to be a mom. I was so excited to have four wonderful children. The problem was that sometimes I treated them quite badly, and I knew I was doing it but I couldn't seem to stop myself. Come to find out, I am bipolar. However, I didn't find that out until they were grown and the damage was done. I will forever regret the way I treated them, because I cherished (and still do) them more than anything in the world.
