Best You Don't Tell Her What I H

by bob cullen

I’m excited to advise our new adventure will soon begin
And the magic of the moment now resides somewhere deep within
All I know it’s secluded in a lost and lonely resting place
And I believe you're sharing it with a smile riding on your face

We found a new home in the country in a tiny rural town
Retirement is our new word we aim to finally settle down
We have money in our pocket, and so many dreams to fulfill
There’s no more need to hurry but there's no prize for standing still

We’ve had more than fifty years to learn all facts about each other
And what I discovered best ‘bout you, you were the perfect mother
Spoiled our kids, spent every cent you had, no time for poor old me
Now it’s just the two of us, two old folks nearing insanity

If I had to start again there’s just one favour I’d ask the Lord
I don’t want no expensive doll or someone I cannot afford
Please Lord just give me the same old chick, guess she really was okay
The Lord smiled at me and said; “Best, I don’t tell her what you had to say.”
