a sonnet
Our memories are haunting us like ghosts,
Their mystic hold refuses to let go -
Like ocean waves cascading to the coast
they scream and crush as a demanding beau.

Our memory's empowered by a thunder
in megabytes of secret microchips
that store our feelings, places and the wonder
of life's discoveries and lovers' lips.
***
Yet often memories could strike an arrow
that gets our wounds to open up again --
And all the gold of an Egyptian pharaoh
could never take away the searing pain.
***
Our memories exploding in our ears,
they roar, demand and never disappear.
