I Walk Alone

by Willie P. Smith

We walked in the woods, near our home.
Now, she's gone, I walk alone.
Things are always subject to change,
Walking without her is so strange.

We held hands as we walked,
Singing songs, we laughed and talked.
She would laugh at the jokes I told,
Even though most were old.

Her hand was warm, holding mine,
Her eyes would brighten, sparkle and shine.
Laughing hard, she couldn't speak,
Tears would roll down each cheek.

Our love was strong, real and forever,
We shared our ups and downs together.
I walk in the woods near our home,
My darling's gone, I walk alone.
