The Discovery Of Relatives From The Past
We Were All In Awe Of Grandpa
by country ranch writer
We had received a call to gather the clan to Grandpas on Saturday. We all wondered what Grandpa had in store for us because it wasn't a holiday. He sounded excited and mysterious on the phone. We all assured Grandpa we'd all be there.
Going inside we noticed a big chest sitting on the table. We all looked at each other in wonderment. As you all know for years we have been searching for our ancestors in Quebec Canada. Well a man called kus from the train station and he said Grandpa had togo pick it up as it was from Canada. Who would be sending him anything especially from a place he had ever heard of out in the wilderness out in no man's land. Curiosity got hold of Grandpa,so he grabbed two of his ranch hands and off they went. Sure enough at the station was this huge box with scrawled handwriting made out in Grandpa's name attached to it. after fetching it on home, there it set, just waiting for us to open it.
There inside were journals, packages of pictures of old people and other family members. The letter that came inside explained the following.
To whom it may concern ,
We are apologizing in advance if this causes you any hard feelings towards us.
It was signed by the train official.as we found out this old chest was located in an old church cellar where folks hid from the enemy.
Grandpa picked through the chest until he came upon the journal. As Grandpa began to read everyone sat still listening. Our great great Grandfather and son just happened to be fur traders back in the northwest territory with evidence to go with it. They both were interpreters of the Indian language and that of the expedition people as they were French Canadian. According to the second journal they ended up in America many, many years later.
