King of the People

by Peitho

Once upon a time in a more perfect kingdom....
A hunter that isn't hungry for meat but ravenous for power.
Poisoned by pride and guided by arrogance, a declaration of what it means to be king.
King, the Law, the Master, the Triumphant,
God among men!
The strength of ten men in just one finger.
The power to take a life...masquerading as the protector.
A servant for the people, a perfect union.
A power that runs on fear and assumption.
High up on his throne, untouchable...
Worshiped.
The people fall at his feet, begging for scraps or meat.
A butcher hired by the people.
He throws scrapple laced with devil's breath, boasting his generosity.
What a just king you are!?
The people are silenced! by satiated hunger.
A delusion of grace slathered in rhetoric infects the kingdom.
The antidote guarded by the palace guards. A plague our very own.
A mighty king!
When hunting a hydra, you must aim for the heart.
