The unexpected
Dystonia
by Joanne Gill-Maddick
We received the news our 8 year old grandson has Dystonia (a condition that causes involuntary movements of muscles.) At birth Logan lacked oxygen to his brain and his first EEG showed zero brain activity. Having shown signs of a bad neck over the past few weeks, his symptoms worsened and his parents took him to a children's hospital in St Johns Nl. His CT scan was good and MRI clear. Dystonia may be the result of lack of oxygen at birth or it could also be genetic. Logan is currently home with family and being treated for his symptoms.
