My Colors? Red and Blue on White

by Reese Turner

What a colorful way to be asked
To describe me. That’s no task!
Look not for any pastels used here
My colors of choice: bright and clear.

Purple? Au Contraire - that’s for rain
In some esoteric mood of pain.
Green says “envy” – I have none
Mauve says nothing – nothing’s no fun.

Pink? Well, I did father three gals
But pink won’t work with my pals.
You want real color? I want RED!
Represents patriot’s blood was shed.

That’s color number one in our flag
Red’s attitude just does not lag.
At this point, no surprise to you,
Would be my choice of color two:

Blue shows class, love and caring
Of patriots who are all most daring
So, that’s my story, enough fun -
American red’s my number one!

And rounding out my two choices ;
Please use that blue our flag voices!
Hope y’all find my poem fun and cute.
To our forces, this old sailor’s SALUTE!
