Only the body grows old

This Old Body

by Donna G. (aka Sam Duck)

It’s pudgy and flabby and old
But it’s mine
It rarely does what it’s told
But it’s mine
I get where I need to go
Hoe the row I need to hoe
My body’s a wreck, but it’s mine!
It aches and it hurts all the time
I don’t care
Crack my back, break a hip if I climb
I don’t care
With my teeth falling out now
There’s really no doubt now
That I’m old but I really don’t care!

In my mind I'm still a young soul
I'm not old
I get crazy when I'm on a roll
I'm not old
Inside I'm a young thing
I'm still up for fun things
On the inside I'm just not that old!
