Whispers of Dawn

by Sugarray77

Whispers of mist upon the lake
arise as morning comes awake.
A silken hush precedes the dawn
awaiting as the sunbeams make
the vestiges of night move on.

Trills echo through the wilderness
as cooing doves, with tenderness,
in graceful flight upon the wing,
their mournful voices join and sing...
harmonious togetherness.

Bright sunshine paints the tops of trees
and fills the air with rosy light.
A halo crowns the canopies
with sparkling gems of pinkish white ~
pale wisps of fog flung to the breeze.

Advancing through the heat of day,
a thumbnail shape, a quarter moon
hangs high above the afternoon,
and beckons otters come and play
for shadows will be coming soon.

And as deep twilight sings the blues
in softness painting lilac skies,
the light begins to wane - diffuse,
embellishing the muted hues,
with dusky, fading lullabies.
