Cognac, paper and pen...

by Dreamdancer

Strolling into my writing room
light a fire in the fireplace
pour a beaker of cognac
arrange it on my desk
sit in my old leather chair
fingers on the keyboard
where shall my heart take me from here

I start to reflect of days gone by
when paper and pen were my best friend
most would say those where the olden days, sigh
Yes, life was much simpler then
Paper and pen
Paper and pen
take me away to better days
when the whippoorwills sung a nightly lullaby
Whoa, cognac's warm fuzzy haze
the owl calls out the question "Who, Who" a bit shy
whoops go the lightening bugs dancing their way
Is that a wolf's cry
I wonder why
Whoa, cognac my friend, starting to kick in
if only yesterday
was today
tomorrow
I chuckle for some reason
it seems my fingers are getting heavy
nice and warm
Snore...
