Ronsardian Ode

Grandma Knows Best

by Debra White

The cup and saucer rattle in my hands
as Grandma pours
the steaming tea. She says she understands,
but then ignores
my small request for milk and sugar too,
just tells me that; "Such stuff's no good for you."
Then, with a grin,
"But cake's not sin!"
- She hands me not one slice, but two!

I decided to combine two club events for this post; The artwork from the current Picture This club event and the Ronsarian Ode from this week's Potlatch club event.

The Ronsardian ode (named after Pierre de Ronsard 1524-1585) is the only kind of ode that specifies a particular rhyming scheme.
RHYME SCHEME/SYLLABLE COUNT
ababccddc, with syllable counts of 10, 4, 10, 4, 10, 10, 4, 4, 8. - information taken from the discussion tab on the Potlatch club page.

Club entry for the "~ Grandma's Love ~ week of 5-29-2022~" event in "Picture This ".  Locate a writing club.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
