I Love You, Dad

by jaybird1

My dad never said 'I love you',
but, in my heart I knew he cared.
The way he cared for family,
was a blessing we all shared.

He toiled and laboured through each day,
to keep us well, keep us above,
the realm of poverty, ill health;
That was the way he showed his love.

He did not feel the need for words,
just let your actions make your day.
Many years have passed, now he's gone,
He lived his life the proper way.

Speaking of love is kind and right-
But 'twill not light the darkest night.
