Hold Up

by Wils

I could tell the moment they walked in.

They didn’t say anything at first, didn’t have to. They just had that vibe about them. You know the one, when you know something bad is going to happen and there’s nothing you can do about it. It was screaming out from every one of them.

I didn’t see them get their bats out but the next thing I know my stuff was flying everywhere. I’m just a simple shopkeeper and they smashed my place up real good. Then they started in on me. Gave me a couple of good whacks and took off with the register. Plus a couple of cigarette cartons. They got away with at least a couple of grand. Left me with a busted collar bone and a smacked in face.

Yes sir, Your Honour. It was them, the defendants. They were the guys that robbed me.
