When I look in the mirror, what do I see?

Self Reflection

by Charity Stewart

Reflection in the mirror, I see a beast.

Paying my last respect to the priest.

I'm a prodigal child that can't return.

Released my soul, let it burn.

Worthless seeds that I planted.

Many years of taking my life for granted.

Toxicity runs through me like a river.

Feverish torment causing me to shiver.

Dying young, wishing I could change that theory.

Heavy burdens of my past, leaving me weary.

My mirror shows a broken vessel.

Physical appearance, I'm nothing special.

Chronic migraines destroying my thinking.

Can't put the bottle down so I'm still drinking.

Trying so hard to get my life in order.

I feel stuck like immigrants hoping to cross the border.

I feel like I've been cursed since exiting the womb.

Desperately needing help but I don't have any room.

Unwanted worries of the world I consume.

Cried into sleep, I am become doom

Glancing in the mirror with hesitation.

Only seeing a reflection of my internal damnation.
