For Dalton

by pookietoo

When you were a sweet, precious newborn child,
You were an angel, so meek and so mild.
When you were two, your mom kept you well fed.
She read you books before you went to bed.

Your mother loved you from the very start
And wants you to have a kind open heart.
She loves it when you learn words that are new.
You look so happy when you say, Love you!"

Each day you're making memories that last.
In three months you'll be three, you're growing fast.
You love your trike and your police car too.
Your mother just hates it when you feel blue.

In a few years, kindergarten you'll go.
It will be hard for your mom, tears will flow.
There will be times you'll need comfort and cheer.
When you have fears, she'll wipe away each tear.
