Waiting 'Round the Bend

by Deniz22

My first walk today, without our furry friend,

I trust he's up ahead, waiting, just around the bend.

He used to do that, you know, in his younger days and way,

Race ahead, lose me, wait, then, "Cmon! Let's play!"

Our days are swiftly passing, as did his, our family's faithful friend,

But I trust when our turn comes, we shall see him,
waiting 'round the bend.

Beloved family dog has gone where the good doggies go a month ago. Today I took my first walk on the path we took so many times before and I half expected to catch up with him, like I used to do when he ran ahead. He would be waiting for me with an old tennis ball in his mouth and a "catch me if you can" look in his eyes.

Sat down on a stump and wrote this amidst tears. People say," Will our pets be in Heaven?" I think so. God is good and it won't strain His resources if Heaven is full of the beloved animals He gave us down here.
