   drinking steady fir a week
   up yonder ders flashing lights
      I thinks I's up a crick!

       wassup officer?
ya want me ta walka line?
  ya need my driver's what?
           It's BR549

i only got two bucks left
anda worn out piece of junk
  i thinks i'll buy a ticket
  and tryta change my luck

ya says dat im a winner?
alls i can say is, wow

          It's BR549

i's goin to see the doc
my innards r in a slump.
   i's just know i's a dyin
they's jest took out a lump

so whats da use of money?
i'll jest give it all away
   i's sertanly won't need it
   in an overgrown ashtray!

        wassup doc?
   ya sure it's all benign?
    Who will pay da bill?
        Try BR549

I watched Hee Haw, but never got into it much until dating my husband who had to watch it & I loved how hard he laughed at it......
Now whenever the grandkids ask grandpa a question that needs a numerical answer, he always says, "its BR549."
Since he's not a poetry lover, I thought maybe I could get his attention with,
"Ode to HeeHaw." I read him some of the delightful comments and reviews, and he thinks they're as much fun as I do!
And for you younger group of authors, Hee Haw was a slap stick Hillbilly type show that got most of its charm by just being stupid and silly!
(Please forgive my attempt at hillbilly slang. It was not only hard to fight the urge to capitalize and spell correctly, but lol, didn't realize how much I would have to fight
autocorrect as well: )
*No disrespect was meant towards anyone, as I just followed the silliness and theme of the show; as America laughed with and at their corny humor, 50 years ago.
