Covid Free

by Debi Pick Marquette

I hope we never have to see
Another virus so ugly
As Covid hit our family
Attacked us all so differently

So many people just like me
Have such a low immunity
Stayed at home, while being lonely
As family functions weren't to be

It strikes at such a harsh degree
With vengeance on its killing spree
Because some victims couldn't flee
Many loved ones are absentee

I pray to All, the Holy Three
A humbled heart, on bended knee
Hear our cries and desperate plea
Keep us all, Covid free

Everyone was affected by the evil virus, known as Covid 19.
Financial, religious, people out of work, etc.......
But for this poem, I am sticking with mostly the medical aspect of it,
We all went through it, but every individual has a different story to tell.
Just as a tornado leaves much destruction in its path, Covid did much the same thing.
We lost many special people in our lives, yet thankfully my immediate family was spared from fatal affliction.
I'd like to take this opportunity, to thank all the health care workers, for all their selfless loyalty and long hours, caring for somebody's loved one! God Bless you all!
