Maddison's Nightmare

The red-hot flames howled as they circled me. I was cut off. There was no way out. I couldn't breathe, and my skin began to burn. I screamed for help, only to have my voice lost in the sinister crackle of the rising flames. I dropped to my knees, beaten. The fire had me; it had won. Then, they come and pull me out just before I wake. I never get to see their face.
