Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Not tied down by jealousy ...

Not caged

by Wendy G

Do I compare myself always with others?
Why not accept them as sisters and brothers?
Why must I feel I just have to be best?
Life doesn't have to be always a test!

Is it really just that I'm so insecure,
Feeling my achievements are no doubt fewer,
That jealousy comes like an ocean tide
Wreaking such havoc with me inside?

If others get ahead, I need to just see
What such jealousy's doing inside of me:
It leads often to rage and bitter spite,
Which deep inside I know is not right.

And if they have something I wish I had -
Let me be happy for them, and glad,
My turn will come, and I'll no doubt see ...
Things will work out if they're meant to be.

I'll be at peace, not let jealousy rage …
Or I'll imprison myself in just a small cage.
My goal from now is a better person to be,
And not let jealousy take hold of me.

I'll compare how I am to what I was before ...
But not with others, and I won't keep score,
I'll be like a bird who wants to fly free
Not tied by jealousy and disharmony.
