Ode To Sleepwalking Souls

by Melody Ringo

The seasons of life slip so quickly past,
It seems as if nothing forever does last.

And time, like a waterfall onward flows,
It's final destination? No one knows.

Likewise, some earthly souls it seems,
Oft live out their lives as if in a dream.

Eyes firmly closed, they walk in their sleep,
Stumbling forward like so many blind sheep.

Blind to life's beauty, they see mostly pain,
Living life in fast forward on a high-speed train.

Seasons of life pass from cradle to grave,
Memories, like dreams are so often unsaved.

So when the end comes and these souls reminisce,
Now awakened from slumber, mourn all moments missed.

Some advice for all sleepwalkers seems appropriate here,
Live life while you can - eyes wide open, without fear.

We've only one life here on Earth we are told,
So be brave and live bold.

Arise from your sleep O slumbering soul!
