Memories

by Leann DS

His name on my phone.
Her car in my driveway.
The old, wooden screen door
Creaking open unexpectedly
And slamming.
In sweeps amity
And one small yellow jacket.

Baskets woven
With wisteria and love
Displayed on my shelf
With the reverence owed Perseus.
Pressed flowers
In my Bible
Absorbing the Words in Red
Received long ago
From grass stain fingers.

Furniture draped with blankets
To make
Rocket ships,
Castles,
A place for time alone
And for time together.

And the time together
Is never enough
For that is where I find
My happy.
