February's Winds of Change

by lauralumummu

I watch the birch trees by the lake bend as contrary winds blow,
moving the branches, and my heart to deep sadness.
Winter can be bleak making me weep.
Feeling overwhelmed by our world, filled with war and hate.

I take comfort in the thought that when spring comes,
the trees will awake the snow will melt,
buds will appear and turn to glistening, green leaves.

I pray hearts will melt, with the sun
and people will be one.
putting differences aside,
love and peace will abide.

Canada is so divided because of Government overreach. I pray for peace and love to reign in our country and that we will all be free to think for ourselves and work and live our lives without mandates. Now with the war in Ukraine, we pray it won't lead to a world war.
