The Pessimist

by DragonSkulls

I Am Not Perfect Contest Winner

Is pessimistic what you want,
the flaw that I endure?
The glass I see's half empty...
of poison, I assure.

Let's take for instance my reviews,
the two that I might get.
I'm sure they're for the cash and points
or Russian pump roulette.

I know someone will join and bend
the rules of protocol.
They'll slightly mention flaws then claim
that God forgives them all.

Then fans of faith will vote while they
ignore the contest's worth.
It asks for flaws you have and not
forgiveness you unearth.

I see the dismal truth you hide
through writes of love and bliss.
A perfect world of make-believe
you know does not exist.

The optimists will hope and dream
for beauty in their lives.
Please hold those dreams in tight embrace
for not a one survives.

We watch a world that bleeds its pain
with liars, cheats and thieves.
I too pretend there's hope beyond
what valid truth deceives.

The flaws I see within myself
I'm sure none here condone.
I pray these words don't cross my lips
the day I die alone.
